PROVIDENCE, R.I. -

Madison Myers (Colchester, Vt.) of the Providence College women's ice hockey team was named the Hockey East Defensive Player of the Week on Oct. 30.

Myers helped the Friars to a 2-0 weekend with back-to-back wins over No. 7 Northeastern (Oct. 28 and Oct. 29). In Saturday's 2-1 home win, Myers stopped a career-high 40 shots while only allowing one goal. On Sunday, she made 38 saves in the 6-4 victory. Her combined save percentage over the two games was an impressive .940.

In Hockey East, Myers ranks fourth in goals against average (1.97), sixth in save percentage (.926) and third in winning percentage (.700). The netminder's .700 win percentage has her ranked 13th in the nation.

The Friars are back in action this coming weekend with a single game at No. 3 Boston College on Nov. 3. Puck drop is set for 2:00 p.m. at Conte Forum.
