Providence Volleyball Set To End Nonconference Play Against Bryant

PROVIDENCE, R.I. - The Providence College Volleyball team will finish its nonconference schedule on Tuesday, Sept. 19 with a match against Bryant University. The match against the Bulldogs will begin at 7:00 p.m.

SCOUTING PROVIDENCE:
The Friars have started the season 11-3. Providence last played against Akron, West Virginia and Army at the Black Knight Invitational on Sept. 15-16.

Sophomore Addison Root (Wichita, Kan.) is leading the Friar's attack this season. Root is averaging 3.51 kills per set and has a total of 172 kills on the season. Sophomore Jenae Alderson (Brooklyn Park, Minn.) and junior Allison Impellizeri (Seaford, N.Y.) have also played important roles in the offensive. Alderson is second on the team with 140 kills (2.86k/s) and Impellizeri is third with 120 kills (2.45 k/s). Freshman Allison Barber (Woodbury, Minn.) has been the setter for the team this season and averages 11.0 assists per set. On the season, Barber has tallied 520 assists.

The Friars have employed a well-balanced defense as they have four players with at least 100 digs on the season. Freshman McKenzie Lydon (Stuart, Fla.) leads Providence with 182 digs (3.71 d/s). Barber, Root, and Alderson have been great two-way players as they have tallied 145, 144, and 117 digs, respectively.

SCOUTING BRYANT:
The Bulldogs have begun the season with a record of 8-7. Bryant last played at the Hofstra Invitational on Sept. 15-16, going 2-1 on the weekend. The Bulldogs defeated Syracuse and Binghamton, while dropping a match against Hofstra.

Julia Flynn leads the Bulldogs in kills with 134 (3.12 k/s) this season. The setter for the offense has been Kirstyn Sperry. Sperry has a total of 322 assists (5.85 a/s) on the season.

Bryant has four different players with at least 100 digs on the season. Erika Ward leads the Bulldogs with 243 (4.42 d/s). Sperry, Kristin Kingi and Flynn have added 155, 139, and 137 digs, respectively.
