PROVIDENCE, R.I. - The Providence College women's soccer team edged Villanova on Saturday, Sept. 23th, at Anderson Stadium. With the win, the Friars improve to 6-4-0 on the year and 1-0-0 in BIG EAST action.
The contest marked the first of a double header for the men's and women's soccer programs. The Providence men's soccer team will take the field at Anderson Stadium at 7:00 p.m. against Butler.
GAME FLOW & NOTES
1st Half
-The Friars and the Wildcats entered the locker room after the first half knotted, 0-0.
-Villanova outshot the Providence, 6-5, while Providence led in corner kicks, 5-2.
-Providence goalkeeper Shelby Hogan (Franklin, Mass.) recorded two saves to Villanova's Emily Harris' one.
-The Friars had their best chance from Casey Estey (Kensington, N.H.) who narrowly missed on a 1v1 chance with Harris.
2nd Half
-The Friars outshot the Wildcats 11-2 in the second half and led 2-0 in corner kicks.
-Hogan recorded one save and Harris reported three.
-Hannah McNulty tallied the lone goal of the game in the 77th minute on a cross from Estey.
HOW WE SCORED
