INDIANAPOLIS, IND. – The Providence College women's soccer team was eliminated from the BIG EAST Tournament on Thursday, Nov. 1 by a score of 1-0 to the Butler Bulldogs. This marks the second consecutive season Providence ended their season in Indianapolis, Ind. by the likes of Butler.

GAME FLOW & NOTES
- Butler attempted to take control of the game early, recording two shots on net in the opening six minutes that Shelby Hogan (Franklin, Mass.) took care of.
- Freshman Elayna Grillakis (Lowell, Mass.) hit the crossbar in the 18th minute, she settled a ball about 20 yards out before hitting a left-footed strike that caught the Butler goalkeeper off guard. The ball lofted over the goalkeeper and rang off the crossbar.
- Halle Stelbasky gave the Bulldogs the lead in the 19th minute. Stelbasky received a cross from the right corner of the field before heading it home past Hogan.
- Butler added another goal in the 35th minute that was very similar to their first. Amanda Kowalski crossed a ball from the corner kick area to Annika Schmidt running into the six-yard box to finish a header.
- Butler outshot Providence in the first half, 10-5.
- Camille Murphy (Seattle, Wash.) trimmed the Butler lead to one after converting in the 59th minute. Hannah McNulty (Warwick, R.I.) passed the ball to Murphy from just in front of midfield, Murphy slipped two defenders before slotting the ball in the bottom left corner.
- The Bulldogs added an insurance goal in the 80th minute, Stelbasky scored her second header goal of the night after receiving a cross from Katie Soderstrom.
- The Friars tried to fight back late, bringing the lead back to one in the 88th minute. Birchwell scored her second goal of the tournament after scoring off a deflection. McNulty shot from the right side of the box that was saved, Birchwell finished the rebound.
- Providence led in shots in the second half, 5-4, but were outshot in the game, 14-10.

st – Halle Stelbasky, assisted by Paige Monaghan. Monaghan lofted a ball fromthe corner kick area that Stelbasky headed in from inside the six-yard box.

st – Annika Schmidt, assisted by Amanda Kowalski. Kowalski crossed a ball fromthe end line to Schmidt inside the six-yard box for a header.

Hannah McNulty. Birchwell passed to Murphy from midfield before Murphy turned and beat two defenders before slotting it past Leonie Doege.

Amber Birchwell. McNulty set up the goal from a shot inside the 18-yard box that was deflected to Birchwell to finish.
