PROVIDENCE, R.I. – The Providence College men's hockey program will honor the late Mark "Roo" Adams '15 prior to the team's game against New Hampshire on Friday night (Nov. 30).
Adams, 27, passed away suddenly on Sept. 17, 2018. He was drafted by the Buffalo Sabres in the fifth round (134
th overall) of the 2009 NHL Entry Draft and appeared in 98 games for the Friars from 2010-15, totaling two goals and six assists. He appeared in all four NCAA Tournament games as the Friars captured their first-ever national championship in 2015. Prior to Providence, Adams captained the 2009-10 Chicago Steel (USHL) where he recorded four goals and 10 assists. He also played three seasons at Malden Catholic High (Mass.) from 2006-09.
A video tribute will accompany the Adams family appearing on the ice for a ceremonial puck drop prior to the game on Friday. During intermission, all money raised during "Chuck-a-Puck" will be donated to the Mark "Roo" Adams Scholarship Fund in his memory. The fund will provide financial support to student-athletes attending summer session classes for years to come.
