STORRS, Conn. – The No. 8 Providence College women's hockey team defeated the UConn Huskies, 4-1, on Friday night (Nov. 30) at Freitas Ice Forum. Providence has now won nine games in a row and is 13-2-0 on the season.

GAME FLOW & NOTES
- Providence outshot UConn 12-6 in the opening period. Sophomore
Maureen Murphy (Buffalo, N.Y.) led the team with three shots during the period, including one that ricocheted off the mask of Morgan Fisher.
- UConn opened the scoring 3:38 into the second period. Catherine Crawley scored an unassisted, wrap-around goal to make it 1-0.
- Shortly after, the Huskies got their first power play of the game. Providence killed it off, allowing just one shot.

Cassidy MacPherson (Oakville, Ontario) leveled the score at the 13:21 mark of the middle stanza. Her rebound goal in front was assisted by
Giana Savastano (Mapleville, R.I.) and
Emily Landry (Orangeville, Ontario).
- MacPherson's goal was her fourth of the year. Savastano's assist was her second, while Landry's was her fourth.
- About three minutes later, Providence took the lead.
Meaghan Rickard (Coventry, R.I.) played it up to
Christina Putigna (Grimsby, Ontario) who skated in on a 2-on-1 with Murphy. Putigna played it to Murphy who beat Fisher from the slot for her 13
th strike of the season.
- Rickard's assist was her fourth of the year and Putigna's was her seventh.
- Murphy extended her point streak to nine games with the goal. She's notched at least one point in every game but one for the Friars this season.
- Providence extended its lead early in the third as MacPherson scored her second of the game just 1:21 in. Landry earned her second assist of the night on the play.
- MacPherson's multi-goal game was her first of the season. Landry's multi-point effort was also her first of the season.
- The Huskies took a timeout and pulled Fisher with 3:30 remaining.
Whitney Dove (Port Moody, British Columbia) then took a penalty, giving Connecticut a 6-on-4 opportunity.
Madison Myers (Colchester, Vt.) made three key saves on the kill, and it was Murphy who was able to score for Providence. She broke up play at the defensive blue line, skated down and shoveled the puck into the empty net.
- Murphy has nine multi-point games already this season.
- Myers finished with a season-high 29 saves in net. Fisher finished with 47 for UConn. That marked the highest total by an opposing goaltender this season.
- Providence's comeback win was its sixth of the season.
