PROVIDENCE, R.I. – Clare Minnerath (Sartell, Minn.) of the Providence College women's hockey team was named the Hockey East Defensive Player of the Week for her efforts between the pipes, as announced by the conference on Monday, Oct. 28.
Minnerath led the team its conference opening win against No. 3 Northeastern on Friday, Oct. 25 in Schneider Arena. She posted a career-high 33 saves in the 1-0 victory, claiming her first shutout of the season and second of her career. Providence's shutout was the first of the season and first since March 1, 2019. The team's win was their first over a ranked opponent since Feb. 23, 2019 when the team defeated No. 8 Boston University on the road. Providence ended the weekend with a 1-1-0 record after falling to New Hampshire the following day, 6-2.
