- Clare Minnerath turned aside all 10 shots she faced in the first period as the teams skated to a scoreless opening period.
- UConn's Kaitlyn Yearwood gave the Huskies the lead at 1:51 of the second period with her first career goal.
- Providence pushed in the third period, outshooting the Huskies by a 12-4 margin.
- The best chance for Providence came during a point-blank sequence with Hayley Lunny and Bailey Burton, who each got off multiple shots from in close but Fisher was up to the task.
- The Friars pulled Minnerath for the extra attacker with under two minutes left but couldn't notch the equalizer.
- Minnerath finished the night with 18 saves.
- Meaghan Rickard and Sara Hjarlmarsson each had a game-high four shots on goal.
