PROVIDENCE, R.I. – Sandra Abstreiter (Freising, Germany) of the Providence College women's hockey team was named Hockey East Defensive Player of the Week on Monday, Nov. 23. In the first two games on the season versus the UConn Huskies, Abstreiter made 54 saves. In total, Abstreiter stopped 54 out of the 57 shots she faced for a 1.44 goals-against average and a .947 save percentage.
Abstreiter and the Friars return to action on Nov. 27 as they hit the road face-off against Northeastern to begin a home-and-home series.
