CALGARY, Alta. – Hockey Canada unveiled on Monday (June 22) the coaching staff to lead Canada's National Women's Under-18 squad for the 2020-21 season. Providence College's Ali Domenico (Ottawa, Ont.) was announced as an assistant coach for the team in advance of the 2021 IIHF Women's U18 World Championships.

Domenico joined the Friars' staff prior to the 2018-19 season under then first-year head coach Matt Kelly. 2020-21 will mark her third season with the program after the team posted a combined 42-25-6 record over the previous two seasons. Domenico had previously served as an assistant coach at Syracuse University from 2011-17. During her time with Syracuse, she helped guide the program to 109 wins and four CHA Championship Game appearances in seven seasons. Prior to Syracuse, she was an assistant coach at The Ohio State University (2010-11).

A 2009 graduate of St. Lawrence University, Domenico played in 153 games for the Saints. During her career, she played in four ECAC Tournaments and four NCAA Tournaments, reaching the Frozen Four in both 2006 and 2007. In her senior season, she was named the ECAC Defensive Forward of the Year and earned Second Team All-Conference honors.

Hockey Canada's virtual camps will consist of - meetings that will progress through the summer, where the athletes will cover topics that include at-home strength and conditioning plans, mental performance plans and check-ins, nutrition, dry-land skills, skating simulations, team-building activities, short-term international competition preparation and meetings with coaches.

The online sessions will take place up to twice weekly, with critical information being communicated to athletes to allow them to continue to evolve as high-performance athletes in this new environment, and will utilize the strengths and experience of Canada's National Women's Program leadership to help connect one-on-one, athlete-to-athlete.
