Caroline Peterson (East Falmouth, Mass.) snuck one by the Crusaders and got Providence on the board 13:17 into the opening period. Peterson was assisted by
Sara Hjalmarsson (Bankeryd, Sweden) on her third goal of the season.
Holy Cross responded with two goals by Bryn Saarela and Lilly Feeney, putting them ahead of the Friars 2-1 going into the first intermission.
After a quiet middle stanza,
Hayley Lunny (Bedford, N.Y.) found the equalizer on the first and only goal of the second period. Scoring on the rebound with less than three minutes to go in the period, Lunny was assisted by Rice and
Sara Hjalmarsson (Bankeryd, Sweden).
Lindsay Bochna (Toronto, Ontario) secured the game-winning goal midway through the third period with an assist from
Hayley Lunny to put Providence up 3-2.
Bailey Burton (Bloomington, Minn.) gave the Friars insurance with three minutes to go in regulation assisted by
Annelise Rice, putting the Friars up 4-2.
Lauren DeBlois accounted for the game's final goal with an empty netter, locking in the win at 5-2.
Sandra Abstreiter (Freising, Germany) finished the game with 24 saves, while Brenon had 43 for the Crusaders.
