PROVIDENCE, R.I. –Nick Poisson recorded a hat trick and four points in the third period and Brett Berard scoring the game-winning goal with 1:01 left in regulation as the No. 12/14 Providence College men's hockey team rallied from a three-goal, third period deficit to shock No. 8 Denver, 6-5, at Schneider Arena on Friday night (Oct. 22).

Notes
- Jaxson Stauber was the story of the first period, stopping all 19 shots he faced, including several key stops doing a two-minute five-on-three power play for the Pioneers.
- Justin Lee and Cole Guttman gave Denver a quick 2-0 lead early in the second period.
- Max Crozier, appearing in his first game of the 2021-22 season, scored on a power play at the 8:28 mark to make it a 2-1 game.
- The Pioneers responded with a pair of goals 2:19 apart from Cameron Wright and Mike Benning to push the lead to 4-1.
- Providence exploded for three goals in the opening 4:14 of the third period to even the score at 4-4. Poisson struck for a pair to cut the deficit to 4-3 and then Jamie Engelbert registered his first goal of the season just 33 seconds later to tie the game.
- Denver's Carter Savoie regained the lead on the power play at 10:20, but Poisson responded just 1:31 with a power-play goal of his own to cap off his hat trick and bring the game even at 5-5.
- Poisson then setup Brett Berard's game-winning goal with 1:01 remaining to cap off the wild comeback. It was Berard's sixth goal in six games this season.
- Poisson was the first Friar to score three third period goals since Devin Rask against Princeton on Nov. 3, 2002 against Princeton, where he scored four in the third period.
- The Friars came back to win or tie a game in which they trailed by three goals in the third period for the first time since forcing a 3-3 tie at Northeastern on Dec. 6, 2013.
- Poisson now leads the Friars in scoring with 10 points on three goals and seven assists.
- Crozier recorded his first career three-point effort with a goal and two assists.
- The Friars finished the night winning 49-of-79 faceoffs (.620).
