No. 14 Men's Hockey, No. 17 Northeastern Skate to 3-3 Tie; Huskies Win Shootout, 2-0

PROVIDENCE, R.I. – The No. 14 Providence College men's hockey rallied from a 3-1 deficit to earn a 3-3 tie against No. 17 Northeastern on Sunday night (Feb. 28) at Schneider Arena. The Huskies claimed the shootout, 2-0.

NOTES
-The teams skated through the first 20 scoreless as the Friars held a 8-4 advantage in shots.
-Northeastern's Zach Solow started off a string of scoring in the second period just 28 seconds in, grabbing a 1-0 lead.
-Patrick Moynihan quickly responded with a goal off a turnover with help from Chase Yoder. Moynihan's sixth goal of the season evened the score at 1-1 just 21 seconds later.
-The Huskies followed up three minutes later with a goal from Aidan McDonough on the power play, regaining the lead at 2-1.
-Zach Solow put another one on the board for the Huskies, improving their lead to 3-1 at 12:59.
-Providence responded with only eight seconds left in the second period with a goal from Chase Yoder cutting the Friar's deficit by one, 3-2, heading into the second intermission. Yoder was assisted by Max Crozier and Patrick Moynihan on a mad scramble in the Northeastern crease.
-Greg Printz found the equalizer for the Friars 3:25 into the final period, as he wired a loose puck into the top of the net. Parker Ford and Michael Callahan earned the assists on the game-tying goal.
-Northeastern's Gunnarwolfe Fontaine and Aidan McDonough scored in the shootout, earning the extra points for the Huskies in the Hockey East Power Index.
-Jaxson Stauber stopped 19-of-22 shots faced in net tonight.
-All five of Providence's overtime games have gone to shootouts this season. The Friars are 2-3 in shootouts.
