Michael Callahan each scored but Merrimack held on for a 3-2 win over the No. 17 Providence College men's hockey team on Friday night at Lawler Rink.

Parker Ford put the Friars on the board, 1-0, with a power-play goal in the final four seconds of the opening period. Ford, assisted by
Brett Berard and
Max Crozier, tallied his 11
th goal of the season on the strike.
-Merrimack scored two second period goals, with one on the power play to take a 2-1 lead. Filip Karlsson-Tagtstrom found the equalizer, 1-1, for the Warriors at 6:27 on a delayed penalty before Liam Walsh grabbed a 2-1 lead for Merrimack at 8:19.
-The Warriors extended their lead, 3-1, with a goal from Declan Carlile at the 5:34 mark of the final period.
-Callahan made it a one-goal game, 3-2, with 2:30 remaining in regulation after
Jaxson Stauber was pulled only nine seconds prior for the extra-attacker. Crozier and
Nick Poisson earned the assists on the play.
-The Friars pulled Stauber again for the man-up with 1:45 to go but were unable to find the equalizer.
-Merrimack defeated the Friars, 3-2, despite being outshot by the Friars, 36-21.
-Providence's four-game unbeaten streak (3-0-1) came to an end on Friday night.
