BOSTON – Freshman Philip Svedebäck made 30 saves and Patrick Moynihan recorded his third game-winning goal in as many games as the No. 15 Providence College men's hockey team edged No. 7 Northeastern, 2-1, on Saturday night at Matthew Arena.

NOTES
- Providence opened with the momentum, generating 10 shots on the goal in the opening seven minutes of action.
- Philip Svedebäck keep the game scoreless as he robbed Northeastern's Jakov Novak going post-to-post.
- At the 11:29 mark, the Friars got on the board first as Riley Duran jammed home his fourth tally of the season to make it 1-0 Providence. Brady Berard registered his first-career NCAA point on the play while Cody Monds tallied his fourth point in three games.
- The Friars held a 18-8 shot advantage through 20 minutes.
- After Northeastern's Hunter McDonald was given a five-minute major and a game misconduct for hitting Brett Berard from behind, the Friars were finally able to extend the lead with just 25 seconds remaining on the power play as Moynihan buried a cross-crease pass from Brett Berard to put the Friars up 2-0. The goal marked Moynihan's third power-play and third game-winning strike of the season.
- The Huskies got on the board with a power-play goal from Gunnarwolfe Fontaine at 13:28 to cut the Providence lead to 2-1.
- The Friars aimed to extend the lead in the third period as Brett Berard was sent in on a breakaway but Levi denied him with the right pad.
- With Levi pulled for the extra attacker, the Providence defense held firm and closed things out.
- Max Crozier had a game-high four blocked shots as the Friars totaled 13 blocks overall. Brett Berard led the way for Providence with eight shots on goal.
- Providence starts the season at 3-0 for the second-consecutive season.
- The Friars landed 50-plus shots on goal for the first time since Jan. 8, 2021 at Boston University.
