Friars earn the extra point in the shootout.

CHESTNUT HILL, Mass. – Guillaume Richard scored in the first period and Bennett Schimek scored the lone shootout goal as the No. 10 Providence College men's hockey team skated to a 1-1 tie at Boston College on Friday night (Dec. 2). The Friars earned the extra point in the Hockey East standings with the shootout victory.

NOTES
- The Friars had the better of the opportunities in the early going, but it was Boston College who broke the ice as Cutter Gauthier scored a power-play goal at 13:49.
- Providence knotted the game at 1-1 at 16:30 on Guillaume Richard's first tally of the season. Richard rushed from his own goal line and dished to Cody Monds, who found Richard's stick at the far post for a tap-in.
- The Friars held a 14-7 shot advantage after 20 minutes of play.
- In the third period, Providence continued to control the play but couldn't find the finish on Friday night.
- The Friars continued that into overtime where they outshot the Eagles by a 5-0 margin.
- Schimek scored in the first round of the shootout and Svedebäck denied Cutter Gauthier, Nikita Nesterenko and Trevor Kuntar to secure the extra point.
- Providence played in its seventh overtime game of the season (2-1-4) and are now 2-2 in shootouts.
- The Eagles were held to eight shots on goal over the final 45 minutes of play.
