Men’s Soccer Back On The Road To Face Villanova

The Friars will travel to Villanova, Pa., to take on the Wildcats on Saturday, Oct. 10.

PROVIDENCE, R.I. – The Providence College men's soccer team (5-4-1, 0-2-0 BIG EAST) will travel to Villanova University (5-5-1, 0-3-0 BIG EAST) on Saturday, Oct. 10. The match will kick off at 1:00 p.m. at Higgins Soccer Complex in Villanova, Pa.

SCOUTING THE FRIARS…
The Friars enter Saturday's match with a 5-4-1 overall record and a 0-2-0 mark in BIG EAST play. Providence most recently fell to No. 3 Georgetown, 6-1, on Friday, Oct. 2. Brian Garrepy (Warwick, R.I.) scored the Friars' lone goal off an assist from Olumayowa Ajayi (Warwick, R.I.).

The Friars have scored 21 goals through 10 games this season. Garrepy leads Providence with seven goals and 14 points, while Alvaro Maneiro (Madrid, Spain) has recorded five goals and 11 points. Angelo Ventrella (Toronto, Ont.) has registered a team-high eight assists and ranks second on the team with 12 points. Ventrella ranks No. 4 nationally in assists. 

Redshirt sophomore goalkeeper Ryan Carney (Dunstable, Mass.) has started each of Providence's 10 matches this season. He has recorded 38 saves and one shutout. The Friars have allowed 21 goals.

SERIES HISTORY AGAINST VILLANOVA…
Providence leads the all-time series against Villanova, 19-10-4. The two programs last met on Oct. 3, 2025, at Chapey Field at Anderson Stadium, where the Friars earned a 5-0 victory.

SCOUTING THE WILDCATS…
Villanova enters Saturday's match with a 5-5-1 overall record and a 0-3-0 mark in BIG EAST play. The Wildcats most recently earned a 3-1 victory over New Haven on Tuesday, Oct. 6. Villanova holds a 5-3-0 record at home this season.

The Wildcats have scored 14 goals through 11 matches while allowing 13. Luke Martelli leads Villanova with nine points on three goals and three assists. Fynn Lahrsen has also scored three goals and has added one assist for seven points. Martelli and Sam Nyenka share the team lead with three assists each.

Goalkeeper Alex Yagudayev has started 10 matches and has recorded 80 saves, and three shutouts.

UP NEXT…
The Friars will return home to face BIG EAST opponent No. 10 Akron (7-1-2, 2-0-0 BIG EAST) on Friday, Oct. 16. The match is scheduled to kick off at 7:00 p.m. on Chapey Field at Anderson Stadium in Providence, R.I.
