PROVIDENCE, R.I. – Providence College women's ice hockey senior defenseman
Cristina Cavaliere (Mississauga, Ontario) was named Army ROTC Defender of the Month for January on Wednesday, Feb. 4, marking her first recognition of the season.
Cavaliere totaled seven assists and 24 blocked shots over nine games during the month. The senior recorded two assists in a game for the fourth time in her career on Jan. 31 in a 3-2 win over Vermont.
Through 24 games this season, Cavaliere has posted one goal and 15 assists for 16 points while recording 61 blocked shots. Her 15 assists lead the team and mark a single-season career high. Cavaliere's 61 blocked shots rank second in Hockey East, two behind the league leader, despite playing four fewer games.

The Friars will return to action on Friday, Feb. 6 when they host the No. 6/8 University of Connecticut at Schneider Arena. Puck drop is scheduled for 6:00 p.m. and will be streamed on ESPN+ and TSN+.
