John Mustard registered two points for the Friars on Saturday.
PROVIDENCE, R.I. – The top-seeded Providence College men's hockey team was defeated in overtime by eighth-seeded Merrimack, 3-2, in the Hockey East Quarterfinals at Schneider Arena on Saturday (March 14).

NOTES
- Providence received two early power-plays but was held off the scoresheet despite firing off nine shots.
- Junior captain Graham Gamache opened the scoring with his third goal of the season at 13:49 of the first. Sophomore Just Mustard slid the puck from the left circle to the slot and onto the stick of Gamache, who one-timed a shot past Lundgren.
- The Warriors tied the game late in the first on a PP goal off the stick of Nathan King. Ethan Beyer carried the puck along the blue line before sliding it over to Parker Lalonde at the top of the left circle. Lalonde then fed King at the left point for a one-timer that eluded the glove hand of Parsons at 18:45.
- In the second, PC's Kale McCallum was accessed a five-minute major penalty and a game misconduct for kneeing MC freshman Justin Gill with 17:17 remaining in the period.
- The Warriors capitalized on the ensuing power play 49 seconds into the third to take a 2-1 lead when Nolan Flamand slid a wrister from the right circle through the legs of Parsons.
- Mustard sent the game into overtime with his 16th goal of the season with 3:16 remaining in regulation. Freshman Roger McQueen wrapped the puck around the boards to classmate Quinn Mantel at the left point. Mantel flung the puck towards the net and Mustard redirected the puck, sending it floating over Lundgren and into the net.
- Hoskins won the game for the Warriors with a wrister off the left post and in for his 13th of the season.
