PROVIDENCE, R.I. – Providence College men's hockey has added transfer Cade Christenson (Edmonton, Alta.) to the roster for the 2026-27 season. Christenson joins the Friars with two years of eligibility remaining after signing an athletic aid agreement to attend Providence College.
The 6-foot-3, 205-pound defenseman appeared in 21 games for the Nittany Lions in 2025-26, tallying five goals and two assists with a +10 rating. As freshman in 2024-25, Christenson appeared in all 39 games during Penn State's run to the Frozen Four, totaling nine points on two goals, seven assists, a +23 rating and the sixth-most blocked shots in the NCAA (79). For his efforts, he was a unanimous Big 10 All-Freshman Team selection and named to the Allentown Regional All-Tournament Team. Christenson participated in development camp with the Pittsburgh Penguins in 2025.
Prior to Penn State, Christenson spent three seasons with the Sherwood Park Crusaders of the BCHL/AJHL, amassing 96 points on 27 goals and 69 assists in 169 career games for the Crusaders. He ranked second on the team and in the Alberta Division with 52 points on 15 goals and 37 assists in 67 games in 2023-24, while being named to the First All-Star Team. He competed for Canada West during the 2023 World Junior A Challenge.
