Jocy Koffi Earns BIG EAST Weekly Honors For Women's Soccer

The freshman was named BIG EAST Rookie of the Week as the Friars went 1-0-1 on the week.
PROVIDENCE, R.I.-Â Providence College women's soccer player Jocy Koffi (Abidjan, Ivory Coast) earned her second BIG EAST Weekly Honors on Monday, Aug. 31. Koffi was named Rookie of the Week following Providence's 2-1 victory against Stonehill on Aug. 27, and 3-3 comeback tie against Rutgers on Aug. 30.

Koffi scored three goals for the Friars across the two games, including her first multi-goal collegiate game and second game-tying goal against Rutgers. The freshman tallied 169 total minutes of play and now has five career goals in six games, ranking her first in the BIG EAST and 13th nationally. Koffi also ranks first in the BIG EAST and top five nationally for shots per game (5.33) and shots on goal per game (2.83). In the match against Rutgers, Koffi scored her first goal with an Olimpico and her second came in the 86th minute to tie the match, 3-3, and keep the Friars undefeated.Â

The Friars will return to action on Sunday, Sept. 6 when they face off against the Boston University Terriers at 2:00 p.m. in Boston, Mass. The match will be streamed on ESPN+.
