Former Friar Grace Efosa Named To Nigeria's 2026 FIBA World Cup Roster

PROVIDENCE, R.I. – Former Providence College women's basketball player Grace Efosa '24, '25G has earned a spot on Nigeria's official 12-player roster for the upcoming 2026 FIBA World Cup, which is scheduled to be played Sept. 4-13 in Berlin, Germany. Nigeria announced its roster on Sept. 2, after concluding a series of exhibition games on August 30 in preparation for the tournament.
Efosa will earn her first official cap with Nigeria and becomes just the second player in Providence College women's basketball history to play in a FIBA World Cup, and third Friar overall (spanning men's and women's basketball). Former Friar Jovana Nogic '19 played for her native Serbia in the 2022 FIBA Women's World Cup and averaged 10.2 points, 4.3 rebounds and 1.8 assists per game. On the men's side, Tuukka Kotti '05 played for Finland in the 2014 FIBA Basketball World Cup.
Nigeria enters the 2026 FIBA Women's Basketball World Cup ranked No. 8 in the World and will play in Group B along with Hungary, Korea and France. The D'Tigress will face Korea in their opening game on Sept. 4 at 8:30 a.m. (ET).
Efosa played for the Friars for five seasons (2020-25) and finished her career with 1,115 points. She earned All-BIG EAST Second Team honors in her final season with the program in 2025. She entered that season as a Preseason All-BIG EAST selection. A year earlier, she became the first Friar since 1993 to land a spot on the BIG EAST All-Tournament Team. Efosa reached double figures in the scoring column 54 times in her career, including 10 games with 20+ points. She averaged better than 12.5 points per game in each of her final two seasons with the program, including a career-best 13.4 points per game in 2024-25.
Last season, Efosa signed her first professional contract and competed in Turkey. Most recently, Efosa signed with Saint-Amand Hainaut Basket (known as the Green Girls), which is a professional club located in Saint-Amand-les-Eaux, France.
