Men’s Soccer Travels For BIG EAST Matchup At No. 3 Georgetown

The Friars will travel to Washington D.C. to take on the Hoyas on Friday, Oct. 2.
PROVIDENCE, R.I. – The Providence College men's soccer team (5-3-1, 0-1-0 BIG EAST) will travel to No. 3 Georgetown University (8-1-1, 2-0-0 BIG EAST) on Friday, Oct. 2. The match will kick off at 7:00 p.m. on Shaw Field in Washington, D.C.

SCOUTING THE FRIARS…
The Friars enter Friday's match with a 5-3-1 overall record and a 0-1-0 mark in BIG EAST play. Providence most recently earned a 2-1 victory over cross-town rival Brown on Tuesday, Sept. 22. The Friars' scheduled match against Butler on Sept. 26 was postponed due to weather and will be made up at a later date.
The Friars have scored 20 goals through nine games this season. Brian Garrepy (Warwick, R.I.) leads Providence with six goals, while Alvaro Maneiro (Madrid, Spain) has recorded five. Garrepy and Angelo Ventrella (Toronto, Ont.) lead the team with 12 points each, while Maneiro has recorded 11 points. Ventrella has registered a team-high eight assists.
Redshirt sophomore goalkeeper Ryan Carney (Dunstable, Mass.) has started each of Providence's nine matches this season. The Friars have allowed 15 goals while recording one shutout.
SERIES HISTORY AGAINST GEORGETOWN…
Georgetown leads the all-time series against Providence, 20-12-4. The two programs last met on Nov. 13, 2025, in Boyds, Md., in the BIG EAST Semifinals, where Georgetown earned a 2-0 victory.
SCOUTING THE HOYAS…
Georgetown enters Friday's match with an 8-1-1 overall record and a 2-0-0 mark in BIG EAST play. The Hoyas most recently earned a 3-1 road victory over Akron on Sept. 25. Georgetown has won six-consecutive matches since its lone loss of the season at Maryland on Sept. 7.
The Hoyas have scored 26 goals through 10 matches while allowing nine. Mitchell Baker leads Georgetown with seven goals and 16 points. Matthew Van Horn has recorded four goals and five assists for 13 points, while Mateo Ponce Ocampo has added three goals and five assists.
Goalkeeper Charlie DeMarco has started all 10 matches for Georgetown and has posted a 0.90 goals-against average with four shutouts.

The Friars will remain on the road to face BIG EAST opponent Villanova on Saturday, Oct. 10. The match is scheduled to kick off at 1:00 p.m. in Villanova, Pa.
