The Friars will return to action on Saturday in Alumni Hall at 3:00 p.m. to face the Marquette Golden Eagles.

PROVIDENCE R.I. - The Providence College volleyball team (8-4, 0-1 BIG EAST) fell to DePaul University (9-3, 1-0 BIG EAST) in straight sets (3-0) in BIG EAST action on Friday, Sept. 25.


FIRST SET HIGHLIGHTS: The Blue Demon took set one, 25-22.

  • The teams were knotted 10-10 early in the set.
  • DePaul took a three-point lead (15-12), forcing a Friar timeout. 
  • The Blue Demons maintained the lead for the rest of the set. 
  • The Friars led the set with a .306 attack percentage. 

SECOND SET HIGHLIGHTS: DePaul took set two, 25-21, and led the match, 2-0.

  • Both teams traded points throughout the set and remained deadlocked at 18-18.
  • Friars called a timeout after DePaul took the lead, 21-19. 
  • The Blue Demons won the set by four (25-21) and took a 2-0 lead in the match. 
  • The Friars led the set in kills (14). 
  •  Senior Miller McDonald (Dallas, Texas) led in assists with eight.
THIRD SET HIGHLIGHTS: DePaul took set three, 25-13, and swept the match. 
  • The Blue Demons quickly took a 12-5 the lead, forcing a Friars timeout.
  • DePaul extended their lead 21-6. 
  • The Friars went on a 7-2 point run and reduced the Blue Demons lead 23-13. 


MATCH NOTES:

  • Sophomore Tori Otter (Rogers, Ark.) led the team with seven kills.
  • Junior Sophia Adkins (Cincinnati, Ohio) notched 18 serve receptions and a perfect .1000 reception percentage. 
  • Freshman Ava Dyer (Fort Worth, Texas) led the team with 13 digs. 


WHAT'S NEXT: The Friars return to action on Saturday, Sept. 26th at 3:00 p.m. (ET) to face Marquette University in Alumni Hall.
