Dominik Machado enters his third season as an assistant coach for the Providence College men’s soccer team.
In 2024, Machado helped guide the team to its 12th NCAA Tournament appearance where they reached the Second Round. Machado helped steer the team to a BIG EAST Championship Game appearance as well as earn the BIG EAST East Division Regular Season Co-Champion title. He also helped the team to 13 victories.
In 2023, Machado assisted the team to their eighth appearance in a BIG EAST Semifinal match.
Machado returned to Providence in 2022 with an impressive background in coaching. Machado spent three seasons as an assistant coach at Franklin Pierce University, where he helped guide the program to 48-1-2 record. Machado was part of a staff that was a three-time recipient of the United Soccer Coaches East Region Staff of the Year (2020-22).
The Ravens won the NCAA DII National Championship and compiled a 25-0-1 overall record in 2022. In 2021, Franklin Pierce advanced to the NCAA Tournament Third Round and finished the 2021 campaign with a 20-1-1 mark. Machado’s first season with the program was shortened by the Covid-19 Pandemic, during which the team yielded a 3-0 record.
During his playing career with the Friars, Machado played in 72 career games and recorded 29 points on 11 goals and 7 assists (2013-17). He was part of a Friars’ program that claimed a BIG EAST Tournament Championship in 2014 and a BIG EAST Regular Season Championship in 2016. The Friars also qualified for the NCAA Tournament during three of his five seasons (2013, 2014, 2016), including an appearance in the College Cup Semifinals in 2014. Providence advanced to the NCAA Quarterfinals in 2016 and NCAA Second Round in 2013. Machado claimed All-BIG EAST Second Team honors and NSCAA Division I Northeast Region Third Team recognition (2014). He also was recognized on the All-BIG EAST Preseason Team (2016).
Machado graduated from Providence College in 2016 with a bachelor’s degree of science in finance. He earned a Master of Education in guidance-counselor education in 2020.
