The Princeton University Tigers defeated the Providence College Friars, 6-5, in men's hockey action on Friday, November 27 at PC's Schneider Arena.

Princeton got on the scoreboard first when Chris Corinett poked in a rebound at 1:53 of the first period. Jerry Keefe wristed in a shot on the power play at 5:37 to even the game at 1-1. Benoit Morin put theTigers back on top at 8:38 before PC's Leigh Dean sent in a shot from the right point that found back of the net at 9:09 to tie the game at 2-2. The Tigers then took the lead with two unassisted goals and some shaky goaltending by Friar netminder Boyd Ballard. Darren Yopyk slid a low shot through Ballard's five hole at 18:42 and Michael Acosta ripped a shot past Ballard at 19:28 of the first to give the Tigers a 4-2 lead.

The Friars cut the lead to one when Mike Omicioli scored on a power play at 4:07 of the second period. Princeton's Jason Given tallied the final goal of the second period at 8:43 as he one timed a shot past PC's Mark Kane who replaced Ballard at the start of the second.

PC made it interesting in the third when Keefe tallied his second goal of the night on a two-on-one breakaway at 7:02. J.P. Acosta increased the Tigers' lead to 6-4 with his first goal of the season at 13:33 of the third. Troy Lake netted a power-play goal for the Friars at 15:20 to bring the squad within one goal. However, PC could not get the equalizer and the Tigers hung on for the win.

Nick Rankin made 26 stops in the win for the Tigers. Ballard and Kane combined to make 19 saves for the Friars.

With the win, Princeton raised its record to 4-1-1 overall, while Providence fell to 5-6 overall.

Providence College will return to action against Yale University of on Saturday, November 28 at 7:00 p.m. at New Haven, Conn.
