Women's Cross Country Wins URI Invitational

KINGSTON, R.I. - The Providence College women's cross country team defeated three schools to win its 13th consecutive University of Rhode Island Invitational on Saturday, Sept. 12.

Providence was led by senior Sarah Dupre of Kingston, Ontario who finished first in a time of 18:16. The Friars, dominated the meet as they captured the first six positions. Sophomore Rachel Hixson of Media, Pa. (second - 18:17), junior Dana Ostrander of Ballston Lake, N.Y. (third - 18:35), freshman Heather Cappello of Lockport, N.Y. (fourth - 18:35) and senior Gladys Ganiel of Harrington, Maine (fifth - 18:37) all scored for the Friars.

The Friars return to action on Sept. 26 at the Roy Griak Invitational at the University of Minnesota in Minneapolis, Minn. at Kingston, R.I.
