JAMAICA, N.Y. -- St. John's University defeated the Providence College volleyball team, 3-1 (12-15, 15-4, 15-9, 15-13), on Sunday, October 8, at Jamaica, N.Y.
Providence junior Sarah Katinger (Stratford, Conn.) led the Friars with 23 kills, 23 digs and three blocks. Senior Heidi Filippi (Wooster, Ohio) added 14 kills and 13 digs for the Friars.
St. John's was paced by Olga Roudovski who had 22 kills for the Red Storm.
With the win, St. John's improved to 18-4 overall and 3-1 in BIG EAST action, while Providence dropped to 14-8 overall and 1-3 in league play.
The Friars returns to action on Tuesday, October 17 against Brown University at Providence College's Alumni Hall at 7:30 p.m.
