PROVIDENCE, R.I. -- Providence College freshman goalkeeper Caroline Haines (Stillwater, Minn.) was named BIG EAST Soccer Rookie of the Week on Monday, August 28.
Haines received her Rookie of the Week honor after posting two consecutive shutouts in her first two collegiate games on August 26-27 at the Black Bear Invitational Tournament in Orono, Maine. On August 26, Haines made three saves in the Friars' 2-0 win over Marist College. The following afternoon, the freshman goalkeeper recorded four stops in PC's 4-0 victory against Iona College.
Haines, the daughter of Joe and Bonnie Haines, graduated from Stillwater Area High School in 2000.
Providence, which has opened the season with two consecutive wins for the first time since 1992, will return to action on Wednesday, August 30 against the University of Connecticut at PC's Glay Field at 3:00 p.m.
