WOMEN'S SOCCER PREVIEW

Loyola University Chicago at Providence College 3:00 p.m. Glay Field Friday, September 29

Loyola University Chicago Ramblers (5-4-0, 0-1-0): The Loyola University Chicago Ramblers travel to Providence College for the third meeting in the all-time series. Last season, the Friars took a 4-0 road victory from Loyola on October 24, 1999. The Ramblers have posted a 5-4-0 overall record this season under the guidance of sixth-year Head Coach Brendan Eitz. The squad enters Friday's game on a two-game winning streak. Last weekend, Loyola captured home decisions versus Northern Iowa and Western Illinois. Loyola is led on offense by sophomore back Erika Butler (Palatine, Ill.). The team's leading scorer, Butler has tallied three goals and one assist on the season. In goal, Loyola is fortunate to have two goalkeepers who have split time this season, senior Katie Roland (Chicago, Ill.) and sophomore Erica Pedini (Plano, Texas.).

Providence College Friars (2-7-0, 0-3-0): The Providence College Friars return to home action on September 29, when they host Loyola University Chicago at 3:00 p.m. at PC's Glay Field. Providence will look to get back to their early season form after dropping their last seven decisions. The Friars enter Friday's game with a 2-7-0 overall record. In their last outing, the Friars were defeated, 1-0, in BIG EAST Northeast Division action by Syracuse University. Junior forward Caitlyn Welsh (Winter Springs, Fla.) has been the Friars' force on offense during the 2000 season. Welsh has recorded two goals and two assists at the forward position. Freshman sensation Caroline Haines (Stillwater, Minn.) has given the Friars a chance to win most outings. In nine games, Haines has posted a 1.81 goals against average and a .798 save percentage.
