The Providence College women's hockey team was defeated by Niagara University, 5-0, on Saturday, November 10 in ECAC action at the Robert Concetta Dwyer Arena at Niagara University, N.Y.
Teresa Del Monte scored three goals including the game winner at the 11:42 mark of the first period to complete the weekend sweep of the Friars. For the second straight game, the Friars could not convert on the power play, going 0-9. PC goaltender Amy Thomas (Austin, Texas) made 26 saves as she was dealt her first loss of the season. Niagara's Tania Pinelli made 24 stops to earn her second straight shutout. Niagara outshot PC, 31-24.
With the loss the Friars fell to 3-4-1, 1-2-1 ECAC, while the Purple Eagles improved to 7-1-0, 4-0-0.
The Friars return to action on Friday, November 16 as they host Princeton at 7:00 p.m. at PC's Schneider Arena.
