DUBLIN, IRELAND - Eleven cross-country runners who have competed or still compete for the Providence College men's and women's cross country teams ran at the World Cross Country Championships. The championships were held on March 23-24 in Dublin, Ireland. Among the past and present Providence College runners are five women and six men.

On the men's side, seniors Hamish Thorpe (Auckland, New Zealand) and Paul Reilly (Loughrea, Ireland), finished 82nd (13:17) and 84th (13:19), respectively, in the men's four-kilometer race. Former PC athletes Ben Noad (Bristol, England), Paul McNamara (Galway, Ireland) also competed in the 4K. Noad finished 42nd (12:54), while McNamara placed 93rd (13:26).

Freshman Dylan Wykes (Kingston, Ontario) finished 78th (26:23) in the Junior World Cross Country Championships as an under-20 participant in the eight-kilometer race. Mark Carroll (Cork, Ireland) finished 49th (37:09) in the 12-kilometer race.

On the women's side, four former Friars who are considered the top female runners to go through the Providence College cross country program, ran the eight-kilometer course. Amy Rudolph (Kane, Pa.) placed 31st (28:37). Marie McMahon (Ennistymon, Ireland) finished 45th (29:07), Sarah Dupre (Kingston, Ontario) earned a 57th-place finish (29:36) and Geraldine Hendricken (Carlow, Ireland) rounded out the field of former PC greats with a 71st-place finish (31:40). In the four-kilometer race, Maria McCambridge (Dublin, Ireland) finished 62nd (14:49).
