ALBANY, N.Y. - The Providence College volleyball team was defeated by host Albany, 3-0 (30-18, 30-21, 30-16), and Iona, 3-0 (30-24, 30-20, 30-20), in day one action at the University at Albany Tournament on Friday, October 3 at University Gymnasium.
Sophomore Katie Fleming (Cary, N.C.) led Providence (2-18) with a nine kills against Albany (13-4) and a team-best eight kills in the Iona (10-8) match. Sophomore Allison Baker (Glastonbury, Conn.) anchored the defensive effort with a total of 17 digs in the two matches.
Junior Ayana Cadres (Los Angeles, Calif.) tied for a match-high with 10 kills in the Iona match and recorded seven kills versus Albany.
The Friars return to action in day two of the Albany Tournament againts Marist on Saturday, October 4 at 1:00 p.m.
