PROVIDENCE, R.I (October 31,2004). -- The Providence College women's ice hockey team was defeated by Princeton, 4-1, on Sunday, October 31 at Schneider Arena in Providence, R.I.
Princeton's sophomore class dominated the Tiger offensive, as they accounted for all of the Tigers' goals. After a scoreless first period, Liz Keady scored at the 6:56 mark assisted by Laura Watt and Dina McCumber. Later in the second period Alison Ralph fired the game-winning goal with an assist from senior Becky Stewart at the 9:00 mark. Sophomore Sonny Watrous (Albuquerque, N.M.) wasted little time as she scored a goal at the 9:39 mark with the assist from seniors Rush Zimmerman (Grosse Pointe, Mich.) and Emily Gryp (Lexington, Mass.) to make the score, 2-1.
Princeton's Dina McCumber struck first in the third period with an unassisted goal two feet from the goal at 3:58. Keady put the game out of reach with an empty-net goal at the 19:06 mark assisted by captain Heather Jackson and Laura Watt.
The shots were knotted at 23 apiece, while Providence went 0-7 and Princeton went 0-3 on the power play. Providence goalkeeper Amy Thomas (Austin, Texas) posted 19 saves, and Roxanne Gaudiel recorded 22 on the night for the Tigers.
The Friars continue their six-game home stretch as they host Clarkson University on Saturday, November 6 at Schneider Arena at 2:00 p.m.
