WINSTON-SALEM, N.C. - The Providence College women's basketball team was defeated by Wake Forest, 78-44, during non-conference action on Saturday, December 4 in Winston-Salem, N.C. Sophomore Shauna Snyder (Albuquerque, N.M.) led all scorers with a career-high 27 points and added seven rebounds for Providence, who falls to 0-6 overall. Porsche Jones led the Demon Deacons with 16 points and eight assists. Wake Forest improves to 6-0 with the victory.

The game was tied, 31-31, with 3:56 remaining in the first half before Wake Forest exploded on a 15-0 scoring run to take a 46-31 lead into the locker room at halftime. Snyder scored 17 of her game-high 27 points in the first half.

In the second half, Wake Forest held Providence to 13.6% shooting from the field (3-22) and outscored the Friars, 32-13, for the 78-44 win. For the game, PC shot 33.3% (16-48) from the field, while Wake Forest connected on 25-of-54 field goal attempts for a 46.3% shooting percentage. Twenty-one of Wake Forests' 25 field goals were assisted. The Demon Deacons scored 31 of their 78 points off of 24 Friar turnovers.

Sophomore Kristina Baugh (Boston, Mass.) scored seven points, followed by Allie Gard (Colorado Springs, Colo.) who netted five points and added a team-high six assists.

Joining Jones in double digits for Wake Forest was Cotelia Bond-Young (14 points), Liz Strunk (13 points), Jennifer Johnson (12 points) and Erin Ferrell (11 points). Ferrell added seven rebounds.

Providence College (0-6) will return to action against Stony Brook on Tuesday, December 7. The game is scheduled to be played at PC's Alumni Hall/Mullaney Gymnasium in Providence, R.I. at 7:30 p.m.
