I can't believe that in two weeks I will be finishing up my third semester of college. It has been two years since I committed to Providence College and I feel like it was yesterday. I remember how nervous I was as my senior year in high school was coming to an end and I would only have a few weeks of summer before I would have to attend summer classes at PC. My first summer at Providence was very difficult for me, I didn't know anyone, I missed my family, and I knew all of my friends were still at home spending their last summer together while I was fifteen hours away. I remember the first day I arrived in Providence like it happened yesterday. I arrived on campus before my roommate, Danielle, so I decided to take a quick nap. Then I realized that I forgot sheets and a pillow so I couldn't do that, oh those freshmen. Shortly after that I heard loud obnoxious pounding on my door. It was several of my new teammates coming to invite me for lunch. They were so nice and welcoming; I knew immediately that I had made the right decision.

That first summer went by and the girls that I had just met turned into some of my best friends in the course of just six weeks. I went home for a month and although I was reluctant to leave my family and friends again it was much easier to return to Providence this time because I knew I would be returning to some awesome teammates and great coaches. I had also already had the opportunity to somewhat adapt to the college life. I felt like I was a step ahead of my fellow classmates.

My first season was a little rough, from the physical strain of my first preseason to being injured for the first couple games, I had a hard time. But our supportive staff and great team chemistry made it much easier. The year flew by and I was back for my second summer school before I knew it. Another preseason raced by like it was no time at all, and here we are now nine games into the season with an awesome 7-2 record.

Last night we played Sacred Heart and experienced only our second loss of the season. This was a team that we all knew we should beat and it was very upsetting because we just didn't come to play. Although we lost a game that we should have won, today I am very proud of my team. After the game last night we had a long ride back to PC, and rather than everyone sitting in silence sulking in their own personal failures from the game we came together and decided to take action. The players gathered in the back of the bus, and although we were very angry about the loss, we spent a long time discussing what went wrong in the game and what changes we could make. We took turns listening to each others opinions and decided to make some changes. This is how I know there is something special about this team and if we continue to come together in good times, and especially in the bad, we will be able to achieve great things.
