Providence, R.I. - Providence College volleyball won its third straight game with a 3-0 sweep over Quinnipiac on Wednesday, October 3. PC won the match with scores of 30-26, 30-17 and 30-18. The Friars improve their record to 13-7.
The Friars earned the win in convincing fashion after struggling to start the first game of the match. Down 20-17, Providence was able to storm back and tie the game 21-21 before eventually pulling ahead and finishing on a 5-2 run. The Friars won the first game 30-26 and never looked back. Providence was led by junior middle-blocker Jeanette Toney (Brooklyn, N.Y.) who finished with a match-high 13 kills, four blocks and a .357 hitting percentage.
Junior Elizabeth Flynn (Bellerose, N.Y.) and senior Sarah Fleming (St. Paul, Minn.) both tallied double-figure kills with 10 each. Fleming also added 11 digs to give her a double-double for the match. Junior setter Sara Sheehan (West Chester, Pa.) registered a match-high 36 assists.
Coach Margot Royer - "I'm proud of the way we kept up the intensity throughout the entire match tonight. Aida Cadres (Los Angeles, Calif.) (six kills and 10 digs) really stepped up tonight and had a big impact on the way the team played. Kasey Adinolfi (Branford, Conn.) has been playing solid defense lately and puts us in great position to execute on offense."
The Friars will be in action next when they host Chicago State on Friday, October 5, at 5:00 p.m. in Mullaney Gymnasium
