PROVIDENCE, R.I. - Providence College women's soccer (8-2-1, 2-1-1 BIG EAST) defeated Seton Hall University (6-5-0, 2-2-0 BIG EAST), 1-0, on Friday, October 1 in West Orange, N.J. in a BIG EAST Conference match. Sophomore Amanda Webster (Saugus, Mass.) scored the eventual game-winning goal. The Friars have now notched eight shutouts, which is second most in the program's history behind the 1993 mark of nine.
The game remained scoreless until the 37th minute when Webster dribbled around a defender and beat a sliding goalkeeper to put the Friars in the lead. The goal is Webster's team-leading fifth of the season.
In the second half, the Pirates would be on the offensive, but the Friar defense would manage to keep them off the board. Senior goalkeeper Jill Schott (Windham, N.H.) notched six saves and improved to 3-1-0.
The Friars are back in action on Sunday, October 3 when they travel to Piscataway, N.J. to take on Rutgers University at 1:00 p.m.
