PROVIDENCE, R.I. - Providence College women's soccer (8-3-1, 2-2-1 BIG EAST) was defeated by Rutgers University (8-5-0, 3-2-0 BIG EAST), 4-1, on Sunday, October 3, in Piscataway, N.J., in a BIG EAST Conference match. Rutgers notched four second half goals to earn the victory.
Rutgers would get on the board in the 55th minute and the 58th minute when Karla Schacher and Jonelle Filigno both scored their fourth goals of the season to put their team up, 2-0, early in the second half. The Scarlet Knights added their third goal in the 73rd minute when April Price put it in the back of the net and their fourth when Ashley Jones scored in the 81st minute. Providence got on the board in the 89th minute when junior Laura DiClemente (Blue Bell, Pa.) took a free kick from the left side of the box and scored her first goal of the season.
The Friars are back in action on Friday, October 8 when they travel host the University of South Florida at 1:00 p.m. at PC's Glay Field.
