PROVIDENCE, R.I. - The BIG EAST announced that Providence College cross country's graduate students Julian Oakley (Tauranga, New Zealand) and Sarah Mary Collins (Basel, Switzerland) earned BIG EAST Athlete of the Week honors on Sept. 20. This was Oakley's first honor of the season while it was the second time this season that Collins has won the honor.

Oakley earned the honor after finishing second at the Coast-to-Coast Battle in Beantown Invitational on Sept. 16. Oakley completed the eight kilometer course in 24:25, a ten second personal best at Franklin Park. Oakley's efforts led the team to a second place finish behind Dartmouth College.

Collins also competed at the Beantown Invitational, finishing third with a time of 17:19. Collins' third place finish led the Friars to a team win as Providence took the next four spots, accumulating a score of 25 points.

Providence's next race will be the Notre Dame Invitational on Sept. 30 in South Bend, Ind.
