Cross Country Sweeps BIG EAST Weekly Awards

NEW YORK, N.Y. - The BIG EAST Conference announced its first Athlete of the Week honors for the Cross Country season on Sept. 7. Graduate student Sarah Mary Collins (Basel, Switzerland) won the Women's Athlete of the Week and junior Aaron Hanlon (Drogheda, Ireland) won the Men's Athlete of the Week to complete a Providence sweep of the honors.

Collins captured first place in the women's 5,000 meters at the University of New Hampshire Tri-meet with a time of 17:21.4. Her winning time was 10 seconds faster than the second-place finisher and was seven seconds faster than last year's winning time at the same meet. Collins led a Friar sweep of the first five places in the meet.

Hanlon also won the 5,000 meters at the University of New Hampshire Tri-Meet with a time of 15:26.47. The victory was the first of his collegiate career. The Friar team won the meet against host New Hampshire and Holy Cross and took the first eight individual spots.

The Friars return to action at the Beantown Invitational at Franklin Park in Boston, Mass. on Sept. 16. at 3:00 p.m.
