PROVIDENCE, R.I. – Madison Myers (Colchester, Vt.) of the Providence College women's hockey team was named the Hockey East Defensive Player of the Week, as announced by the conference on Monday, Nov. 12.
Myers helped the Friars improve to 8-2-0 on the season and 5-1-0 in Hockey East play with weekend wins over Maine (Nov. 9) and Vermont (Nov. 11). She made 47 total saves and allowed just one goal over the 120 minutes of play. Her overall save percentage for the weekend was .979 and her goals against average was 0.50.
The senior netminder currently ranks second in the nation in goals against average (1.00). She's fourth in the nation in save percentage (.958) and sixth in winning percentage (.875).
Myers and the Friars take on Merrimack in a home-and-home series this weekend. Games are set for Friday (Nov. 16) at 6:00 p.m. and Saturday (Nov. 17) at 4:00 p.m.
