PROVIDENCE, R.I. – Maureen Murphy (Buffalo, N.Y.) of the Providence College women's hockey team was named the Hockey East Player of the Week, as announced by the conference on Monday, Nov. 19.
Murphy helped the Friars to two wins against Merrimack over the weekend. She scored the game-winning goals in both games and finished the weekend with six total points. The sophomore tallied three goals and three assists. Murphy's now had three three-point games this season and has recorded multiple points in eight of the team's 12 games.
The forward leads Providence in points (22), goals (12) and assists (10). She's fourth in the nation in points per game (1.83) and second in goals per game (1.00). Murphy also leads in the nation in game-winning goals, having scored six already this season.
