- Providence dropped a road game at Boston College for the second time in eight days after a 4-1 setback to the Eagles last Saturday in Chestnut Hill.
- Similar to last weekend, the Eagles jumped out early as Michael Kim cashed in on the power play just 3:16 into the game.
- The Friars surrendered their second shorthanded goal to the Eagles this season at 12:30 of the first on David Cotton's 14th goal of the season.
- Hawkey kept the Friars in the game in the second period, including a sprawling save on Cotton's shorthanded breakaway.
- Just moments after Hawkey's save,
Jason O'Neill got the Friars on the board with his third goal of the season to cut the BC lead to 2-1.
- The Eagles struck twice in the first 7:48 of the third period as Chris Grando and Chris Brown gave the Eagles a 4-1 lead. Brown's goal came via a penalty shot.

SERIES HISTORY VS. NORTHEASTERN
• The teams will faceoff for the 158th and 159th times this weekend beginning on Friday night at Schneider Arena.
• The Friars and Huskies met three times last season and all three games required overtime as Providence claimed the season series, 2-0-1, which included a overtime win in the Hockey East semifinals last March.
• Overall, Providence is unbeaten against Northeastern in the last four meetings (3-0-1). The last five meetings have been decided by one goal or less.

SCOUTING THE HUSKIES
• The eighth-ranked Huskies enter the weekend coming off a split of a two-game series against No. 1 UMass last weekend. After dropping a 6-1 decision in Amherst, Northeastern claimed a 2-1 overtime victory against the Minutemen at Matthews Arena last Saturday.
• Freshman Tyler Madden paces the Huskies in scoring with 20 points (8-12-20) in 18 games played. Senior Brandon Hawkins also checks in with 20 points (7-13-20), while juniors Grant Jozefek (10-9-19) and Jeremy Davies (5-14-19) and sophomore Zach Solow (11-6-17) round out the top five in scoring.
• In goal, sophomore Cayden Primeau is 13-4-1 with a 2.37 GAA and .922 save percentage in 18 games played this season.

KOOPMAN TWINS JOIN THE ROSTER FOR THE SECOND SEMESTER
Marblehead, Mass. natives Matt and
Kyle Koopman will join the program for the second semester. Matt totaled eight goals and 17 assists with Waterloo (USHL) while Kyle tallied eight assists with West Kelowna (BCHL) prior to joining the Friars.

DUHAIME NAMED HOCKEY EAST PLAYER OF THE MONTH
Junior
Brandon Duhaime notched Hockey East Player of the Month honors for December after leading all Hockey East players with eight points over four games (1-7-8). It was the first monthly recognition for Duhaime.

The Friars lead all NCAA schools with a +277 shots on goal margin. Overall, Providence has outshot opponents by an average of 11.54 shots per game. Their 22.46 shots on goal allowed per game ranks second overall in the NCAA.

ELEVEN GAMES TO AIR ON NBC SPORTS BOSTON
Providence College Athletics announced that NBC Sports Boston, the broadcast home of the Boston Celtics will televise 11 men's hockey home games during the 2018-19 season. Eight of the 11 games will be shown live, while the remaining three games with be tape delayed following the conclusion of Celtics coverage.

Beginning with the 2018-19 hockey season, all Friars men's hockey games, in addition to all pregame and postgame network programming will be carried live on NewsRadio 104.7 FM. The agreement also includes 10 editions of the
Nate Leaman Coaches Show that will air throughout the season. Mike Logan, who is entering his 24th season as the voice of the Friars, will call all the live action this season on 104.7 FM. Logan also will host the
Nate Leaman Coaches show on 104.7 FM.

JAY O'BRIEN EARNS SILVER AT 2019 WORLD JUNIOR CHAMPIONSHIPS
Freshman
Jay O'Brien earned the silver medal at the 2019 World Junior Championships after Finland defeated the United States in the gold medal game last Saturday. He is the third Friar to earn a medal at the World Junior Championships while being enrolled at Providence College (Jon Gillies - Gold, 2013 &
Erik Foley - Gold, 2017).

Goaltender
Hayden Hawkey recorded his fourth shutout of the season against Merrimack on Dec. 7. His 61 career wins are tied for second all-time at Providence and he sits four wins shy of breaking the program record of 64 (Mario Proulx '84). His .646 winning percentage currently ranks first all-time in program history, while his 12 shutouts are one shy of tying Jon Gillies for the program record.
