th-ranked Providence College men's hockey team on Saturday night at Matthews Arena.

- The teams combined for just eight total shots in the opening period but traded goals in the waning minutes of the first period.
- Providence scored the opening goal for the 11
th time in 12 games this season as
Jason O'Neill snuck a shot through the pads.
- Just 38 seconds later, Mike Kesselring knotted the game at 1-1 for the Huskies with his first collegiate goal.
- Northeastern struck for three goals in the first 5:34 of the second period to grab a 4-1 lead before
Patrick Moynihan got one back for the Friars on the power play.

Gabe Mollot-Hill came in relief of
Michael Lackey and turned away seven of eight shots.
- Jeremie Bucheler made it 5-2 late in the second period for Northeastern.

Vimal Sukumaran cashed in early in the third period to give the Friars life at 5-3, but Providence couldn't mount a comeback as the Huskies added two empty net goals in the final minutes.

Tyce Thompson added an assist and still ranks second in the nation in scoring with nine goals and 10 assists for 19 points behind teammate,
Jack Dugan (5-21-26).
