Six Unanswered Goals Propel No. 16 Men's Hockey Past Boston University, 7-3

BOSTON, Mass. – Chase Yoder scored twice, including his first NCAA goal, and five other players registered multi-point games as the No. 16 Providence College men's hockey team scored a 7-3 win on the road at Boston University on Friday night (Jan. 8) at Walter Brown Arena.

NOTES
-Freshman Chase Yoder got the Friars on the board early with his first NCAA goal. Assisted by Craig Needham and Cam McDonald off the rebound, Yoder gave the Friars an early 1-0 lead.
-The Terriers returned with two goals to finish off the first by Jay O'Brien and Luke Tuch, putting the Friars down 2-1 going into the first intermission.
-Boston University scored their third and final goal of the night 5:19 into the middle stanza by Sean Driscoll. Driscoll was assisted by Dylan Peterson and Luke Tuch.
-Tyce Thompson got the Friars back within one at 9:08 of the period. Cam McDonald and Parker Ford got the assists on Thompson's fourth goal of the season.
-Chase Yoder evened things up with his second goal of the night 51 seconds after Thompson's goal. Helping the team out of a two-goal deficit to tie the score at 3-3, Yoder beat Commesso to the short side on a tough angle with the assists going to Matt Tugnutt and Max Crozier.
-Crozier secured the game-winning goal on two-man advantage 16:30 into the middle period for his first goal of the season. Ben Mirageas feed Crozier for a one-timer, sending the Friars into the second intermission up 4-3.
-Mirageas gave the Friars insurance early in the third period after a fired a wrister from the point off a Jason O'Neill faceoff win to put Providence up 5-3.
-Providence's two World Junior Championship gold medalists closed out the scoring on Friday night. Brett Berard put the Friars up 6-3 with a spinning backhand effort for his first collegiate goal, then Patrick Moynihan accounted for the game's final goal after a back-door feed from Tyce Thompson.
-Jaxson Stauber finished the night with 26 timely saves and has stopped 159 of 170 shots he's faced through seven games for a .935 save percentage.
- Union transfer Jack Adams appeared in his first NCAA game since March 16, 2019.
- The teams matched up at Walter Brown Arena for the first time since October 22, 2004.
- Mirageas' goal was his first since Jan. 5, 2019.
- Cam McDonald registered his first-career multi-point game with two assists on Friday night.
- Providence outshot the Terriers by a 24-4 margin in the second period.
