-Providence scored right out of the gate with a goal by
Patrick Moynihan only 55 seconds into play. Moynihan re-directed a one-timer from
Uula Ruikka (Oulu, Finland).
Kohen Olischefski (Abbotsford, B.C.) picked up his first-career point with the Friars on the assist.
-The Friars doubled their lead 6:10 into the first on a goal by
Parker Ford (Wakefield, R.I.). The goal was Ford's first of the season and 17th of his career. Ford was assisted by
Nick Poisson (Vancouver, B.C.) and
Guillaume Richard (Cap-Sante, Quebec).Â
-Army West Point took a penalty at 16:21 as Andrew Quetell was whistled for tripping. Providence was on the power play for 1:18 before
Ben Mirageas (Newburyport, Mass.) was called for boarding. The teams played 4-on-4 for the remaining 42 seconds before West Point went to the power play. Neither team was able to capitalize on the man-up opportunity.
-At the conclusion of the first period the Friars led 11-8 in shots.
-The Friars increased the lead to 3-0 with a goal from Callahan just 2:55 into the second period. Poisson and
Cody Monds (Brockville, Ontario) earned the assists on the play. The goal served as Callahan's first of the season and 11th career goal.
-The scoring continued in the second at 13:09 as
Brett Berard (East Greenwich, R.I.) earned his first goal of the season, putting the Friars up 4-0.
Craig Needham (Medford, Mass.) and Callahan assisted, with Callahan putting up his second point of the night.
- Providence closed out the game with a three-goal third period. Richard netted his first NCAA goal after slamming home
Parker Ford's rebound. Berard notched his second strike of the night midway through the third period, while
Craig Needham finished off the scoring with a power-play marker at the 13:00 mark. Freshman
Riley Duran (Woburn, Mass.) earned his first collegiate point on the goal.

Jaxson Stauber (Plymouth, Minn.) turned away all 24 shots he faced before giving way to senior
Jimmy Scannell (Medway, Mass.), who made one stop.
- Providence also began the 2019-20 season with a 7-0 shutout victory and have now extended their unbeaten streak against Army to 14 games (13-0-1) dating back to 1969.

Friars Represented On 2022 U.S. National Junior Team
Nate Leaman returns as head coach of the 2022 U.S. National Junior Team, while Friar Director of Hockey Operations,
Theresa Feaster also returns to the staff as a video caoch. Two Friars appeared in the 2021 Summer Showcase:
Brett Berard and
Chase Yoder. The U.S. National Junior Team will take part in the 2022 International Ice Hockey Federation World Junior Championship Dec. 26, 2021 – Jan. 5, 2022, in Edmonton and Red Deer, Alberta. Team USA is seeking its sixth medal in seven years at the event.

Two Current and Future Friars Selected in 2021 NHL Draft
Freshman defenseman
Guillaume Richard was selected in the fourth round (101st) overall by the Columbus Blue Jackets, while 2022 commit, Taige Harding, was taken by the Chicago Blackhawks in the third round (91st overall).

Stauber Named Hockey East Goaltender of the Week
Junior netminder
Jaxson Stauber was named Hockey East Goaltender of the Week after stopping all 24 shots he faced in the Friars' season-opening victory over Army West Point last Saturday.

Returning Production
Providence ranked sixth in the nation with 84 goals that returned this season. The 82% of returning goals ranked fourth nationally. The Friars also returned 76% of their points from last season, which also ranked sixth.

Youth Movement
The Friars have the 16th youngest roster in the NCAA this season (average age of 21 years, 11 months). Freshman Guilluame Richard is one of the younger players on an NCAA roster this year at 18 years and 8 months.

The Friars jumped one slot to No. 11 in the USCHO and three spots to No. 11 in the USA Today/USA Hockey Magazine Polls after their 1-0-0 weekend to begin the season.

Scouting the Warriors
The Warriors will kick off their regular season schedule against the Friars on Thursday night. They'll return leading scorers Filip Forsmark, Liam Walsh, Alex Jefferies, Declan Carlile, Logan Drevitch and Zach Vinnell. In goal, Zach Borgiel and Troy Kobryn return to the squad, joined by New York Rangers draft pick Hugo Ollas.

Series History vs. Merrimack (PC leads 90-34-12, .706)
The Warriors have claimed three of the last four meetings between the schools, including two-consecutive wins on Schneider Arena ice. The teams split last season's series, with the road team claiming both contests.

Series History vs. AIC
• The teams will meet for the 17th time overall and for just the fourth time in the
Nate Leaman era. Providence has claimed the most recent meetings in 2013 (10-4), 2018 (3-1), and 2020 (5-0).
• Saturday marks the just the second time since 1960 that the Friars will play on the road against AIC.

Scouting the Yellow Jackets (PC leads 13-3-0, .813)
AIC returns leading scorer Chris Theodore (4-15-19 in 19GP) as well as juniors Justin Cole (9-7-16) and Elijiah Barriga (7-6-13). In goal, former Friar Jake Kucharski earned the start in Saturday's 4-1 exhibition loss at Boston College. Kucharski posted a 5-0-0 record with a 1.69 GAA and .916 save percentage in seven games last season. The Yellow Jackets have claimed the last two Atlantic Hockey Championships and have appeared in the last two NCAA Tournaments.
