Puck Drop
The Friars continue Hockey East play against No. 7 Boston College on Nov. 12 and 13. Puck drop is scheduled for Friday at 2:00 p.m. at Schneider Arena and Saturday at 8:00 p.m. at Conte Forum in Chesnut Hill, Mass.
Scouting the Friars
The Friars are currently 3-3-3 overall and 2-2-1 in Hockey East. Last weekend, the Friars matched up against No. 5 Northeastern for a home-and-home series, finishing the weekend with one loss and a tie. On Friday (Nov. 5), Providence fell to the Huskies 1-5 at Schneider Arena.
Lindsay Bochna scored the lone goal for the Friars, for a team-high six points on the season. The following day (Nov. 6) at Matthews Arena in Boston, Mass., the Friars battled the Huskies to a 1-1 tie, falling in shootouts (0-2).
Delaney Couture (Shrewsbury, Mass.) scored for the Friars on a turnover for her first career goal in the second period.
Sandra Abstreiter (Freising, Germany) recorded 41 saves to keep the Huskies off the board after their first period goal and through overtime. Northeastern had two players score in the shootout, 0-2, giving the Huskies the extra point in the Hockey East standings.
Lindsay Bochna (Toronto, Ontario) leads the charge offensively for the Friars with six points (three goals, three assists).
Hayley Lunny (Bedford, N.Y.),
Brooke Becker (Orchard Park, N.Y.) and
Claire Tyo (Massena, N.Y.) are tied for second, each with five points. 14 different Friars have points on the season and nine players have recorded at least one goal.
Sandra Abstreiter (Freising, Germany) has made eight starts in net. She holds a .944 save percentage and a 1.70 goals against average. The netminder has made 234 total saves and has one shutout on the season. She is followed by
Mireille Kingsley (Sudbury, Ontario) who has earned one start in net against Union where she recorded 16 saves for a .941 save percentage and 1.00 goals against average.
Scouting the Eagles
The Eagles enter the game with a 6-3-0 overall record and a 4-2-0 mark in conference. In their last Hockey East matchup, the Eagles were defeated by No. 6 Northeastern 2-4 at home, before falling 0-3 at Northeastern. In their latest matchup (Nov. 9), Boston fell to No. 10 Harvard, 2-5.
Who to Watch
Boston College's offense is lead by Hannah Bilka, who was tallied nine points so far this season (four goals, five assists). Bilka is followed by Abby Newhook and Willow Corson who have put up six points apiece.
Abigail Levy has taken on sole goaltending duties for the Eagles this season. Over nine games, Levy has recorded 307 saves for a .940 save percentage and 2.17 goals against average.
