Brett Berard struck first for the Friars, 1-0, with a goal at 6:17. Berard collected
Guillaume Richard's shot behind the net and tucked it into far post for his tenth goal of the season, a team-high.
- Providence entered the first intermission with a 1-0 lead. The Friars held a 16-6 advantage in shots over the Brown Bears through the opening twenty.
- The Friars gained a two-goal cushion just 1:27 into period two with a goal from
Nick Poisson. Berard cycled the puck down behind the Bears' net and
Kohen Olischefski found Poisson in front of the net for his fifth goal of the season.

Patrick Moynihan cashed in on the power play, 3-0, at 4:22 of the second period. Poisson rocketed a shot off of Berard's skate and kicked it right to Moynihan for the junior's sixth of the season and fourth goal in the last four games.

Riley Duran kept the scoring going for the Friars in the third period, extending Providence's lead to 4-0 with a goal at 8:03.

Austin Cain finished the night with 24 saves. Tonight's performance served as both Cain's first career shutout and first start as a Friar.

A Look at Northeastern...
The Huskies enter the weekend at 11-4-1 and 5-3-1 in Hockey East play (17 pts) after sweeping a two-game home-and-home series with RPI last weekend. Aidan McDonough leads the way with 13 goals and 16 points for the Huskies in 16 games. Jordan Harris (2-9-11) and Justin Hryckowian (3-7-10) have also posted double-digit point totals this season. Reigning Hockey East Rookie of the Month Devon Levi has logged all 965:44 in net for Northeastern this season and ranks sixth in the NCAA with a 1.43 GAA and second with a .950 save percentage.

Berard Named Hockey East Player of the Week and Month
Berard, who was named Hockey East Player of the Week on Monday after his six-point weekend against Dartmouth and Brown, currently leads all Hockey East players in scoring in his sophomore season at Providence with 10 goals and 11 assists in 17 games played. During the month of November, Berard registered 10 points on three goals and seven assists with nine points coming over the final five games of the month.

Friars Represented On 2022 U.S. National Junior Team
Brett Berard was recently named to the 2022 U.S. National Junior Team Preliminary Roster.
Nate Leaman returns as head coach of the 2022 U.S. National Junior Team, while Friar Director of Hockey Operations,
Theresa Feaster also returns to the staff as a video coach. The U.S. National Junior Team will take part in the 2022 International Ice Hockey Federation World Junior Championship Dec. 26, 2021 – Jan. 5, 2022, in Edmonton and Red Deer, Alberta. Team USA is seeking its sixth medal in seven years at the event.

Two Current and Future Friars Selected in 2021 NHL Draft
Freshman defenseman
Guillaume Richard was selected in the fourth round (101st) overall by the Columbus Blue Jackets, while 2022 commit, Taige Harding, was taken by the Chicago Blackhawks in the third round (91st overall).

Providence welcomed in a nine-member incoming class for this season - six freshmen and three transfer student-athletes. The freshmen are:

Seven players recorded at least two points in Providence's season-opener against Army on Oct. 2 -

The Friars now rank second in the NCAA on the power play with a .333 success rate. Providence is 9-of-15 on the man-advantage over the last five games. The penalty kill ranks eighth nationally, checking in at 89.3%. Providence has killed off the last 13 opponent power play opportunities.

Providence ranked sixth in the nation with 84 goals that returned this season. The 82% of returning goals ranked fourth nationally. The Friars also returned 76% of their points from last season, which also ranked sixth.

The Friars have the 16th youngest roster in the NCAA this season (average age of 21 years, 11 months). Freshman Guilluame Richard is one of the younger players on an NCAA roster this year at 18 years and 8 months.

Fourteen Former Friars Participate in NHL Training Camps, Seven Earn Roster Spots
Providence boasts 14 former players that have participated in NHL training camps thus far in September. Noel Acciari (FLA), Kasper Bjorkqvist (PIT), Jacob Bryson (BUF), Vincent Desharnais (EDM), Jack Dugan (VGK), Brandon Duhaime (MIN), Jon Gillies (NYI), Mark Jankowski (NJ), Brian Pinho (WSH),
Greg Printz (ANA), Kevin Rooney (NYR), Brandon Tanev (SEA),
Tyce Thompson (NJ) and Jake Walman (STL). Acciari, Bryson, Duhaime, Rooney, Tanev, Thompson and Walman all made opening night rosters, while Duhaime made his NHL debut on Oct. 15 in Anaheim.

The Friars and Huskies meet for the 167th and 168th times this weekend as the teams are separated by just two points in the Hockey East standings. Providence claimed last season's series, going 2-0-2 in four matchups. Overall, the Friars are 8-2-3 against Northeastern over the last 13 meetings and are unbeaten in the last seven games at Schneider Arena against the Huskies (6-0-1).
