PROVIDENCE, R.I. – The Providence College No. 12 women's hockey team will take on the Boston University Terriers this weekend with home-and-home matchups. On Friday, Nov. 4 the Friars will travel to Boston, Mass. for a 7:00 p.m. start before returning home to host on Saturday, Nov. 5 for a 3:00 p.m. puck drop at Schneider Arena.
Scouting the Friars
The Friars are currently 7-2-1 overall and 4-1-1 in Hockey East play. The Friars are coming off a weekend battle with No. 6 Northeastern University. On Friday, Oct. 28 Northeastern defeated the Friars, 4-1. Saturday's battle concluded in a 2-2 tie after both teams skated through overtime without scoring. Northeastern earned the extra Hockey East point for winning the shootout, 2-1.
Sandra Abstreiter (Freising, Germany) finished the weekend with 75 saves and currently holds a .945 save percentage with a 1.39 GAA this season.
Noemi Neubauerova (Prague, Czech Republic) finished the weekend with one goal and an assist.
Lindsay Bochna (Toronto, Ontario) also recorded two more points by earning two assists.
Lauren DeBlois (Lewiston, Maine) netted the goal to tie the game at 2-2 on Saturday.
USCHO Division I Women's Poll: October 31st 2022

st, the Friars are slotting in at No. 12 in the USCHO NCAA Women's Hockey rankings. Providence received 82 votes. The Friars are also No. 12 in the USA Hockey Magazine Poll and received 58 votes.
Hockey East Award Winners
Kirchmair was named Hockey East Pro Ambitions Rookie of the Month as announced on Nov. 2. Kirchmair was recognized for leading the Friars in goals with seven and leading all of Hockey East in goals among freshman.
Kirchmair was named Hockey East Pro Ambitions Rookie of the Week as announced on Oct. 24. Kirchmair was recognized for earning two goals over the weekend. She has recorded seven goals and two assists across eight season games. She leads the Friars in goals and is second in points with nine.
Abstreiter was named Hockey East Goaltender of the Week as announced on Oct. 17. Abstreiter was recognized for having another shutout weekend against Holy Cross. She posted a combined 25 saves on the weekend and is the first goalie in program history to tally four-consecutive shutouts.
Abstreiter was named Hockey East Goaltender of the Week as announced on Oct. 10. Abstreiter was recognized for her efforts between the pipes after a shutout weekend over Union College and RPI, posting a combined 35 saves.
Reichen Kirchmair (Oakville, Ontario) was named Hockey East Pro-Ambitions Rookie of the Week as announced on Sept. 26. Kirchmair was recognized for scoring the game-winner with her first career goal against St. Lawrence.
Hockey East Preseason Poll
The Friars were picked to finish fourth in the Hockey East Preseason Poll, which was released on Tuesday, Sept. 13. Providence received 61 points and was picked to finish behind Northeastern (90), Vermont (79) and Boston College (76). The Huskies, who won the 2022 Hockey East Tournament, received nine first place votes.
Fresh Friar Faces
Providence welcomes seven new players (three transfers and four freshmen) to the roster for the 2022-23 season.
Noemi Neubauerova (Prague, Czech Republic) is a graduate student from Colgate University.
Ida Press (Uppsala, Sweden) is a graduate student from University of Maine.

Scouting the Terriers
Boston University currently holds a 3-5-0 overall record with a 2-4-0 conference record. The Terriers are coming off a weekend split versus Merrimack College with a 5-2 loss on Friday, Oct. 28 and a 5-2 win on Saturday, Oct. 29. As a team, Boston University averages 28.1 shots per game and holds a .174 conversion rate on power plays with a 48.2 faceoff success percentage.
Who to Watch
Senior Julia Nearis leads the Terriers in goals with four and in total points with seven. Junior Martin Lacey is second in points and leads in assists with six.
Graduate student goaltender Andrea Brändli has played six games this season. Brändli has a total of 105 saves this season for a .955 save percentage and a 1.25 GAA. Sophomore goaltender Callie Shanahan has played in four games this season. Shanahan has recorded 132 saves for a .898 save percentage and a 3.75 GAA this season.
All Time Series with the Terriers
Providence currently leads the all-time series record against Boston University 33-30-4. The last time the Friars faced off against the Terriers was in February 2022 when the two teams tied 1-1 in the first game, and the Friars won second game in overtime, 2-1.
